The "Studies in Asian Security" series of books is designed to promote analysis and understanding of the dynamics of domestic, transnational and international security challenges in Asia. The peer-reviewed books in this series will provide new insights and perspectives, and identify new research and policy directions. This project will encourage original and rigorous scholarship on Asian security, and foster the development of a new generation of scholars on Asian security. The books in the series will be published by Stanford University Press for wide distribution. (2-year project)

Located in the heart of Central Asia, the territory of the Fergana Valley is currenly shared by Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. This three year project will produce an interdisciplinary book on the Fergana Valleyís history and contemporary situation in order to assist regional governments and international agencies in creating well-informed policies that can reduce conflict and promote peaceful relations in the region. The 600-page book will be published in English and in the three national languages of the Fergana Valley. (3-year project)
