CIPA Photo Aid Fund

The Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA) and the Nippon Foundation are working together to support reconstruction of the areas affected by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake.  They have established a fund called CIPA Photo Aid, whose purpose is to support organizations engaged in activities related to photos and video documentation.

Purpose for Establishing the Fund

  1. To create a true record of the damage caused by the earthquake disaster
  2. To document the efforts at restoration and reconstruction, particularly initiatives by civilian organizations and by private citizens
  3. By means of photos and video, to support care services to support mental care for the victims of the disaster

Aid Objectives and Details

CIPA Photo Aid will particularly target groups such as non-profit organizations (NPOs and NGOs), volunteer organizations, schools, as well as cilivian organizations to work with, in order to support public benefit as well as individual need in the following ways:

  1. Creation, preservation, and accessibility of photo and video images
  2. Training and promotion of those who are working to document the reconstruction and maintenance of documentary media and equipment
  3. Cleaning and arrangement of damaged photographs and reproduction of items such as graduation albums
  4. Supporting openings of art exhibitions and events featuring photos and videos
