Professor Akihiko Tanaka will discuss how many Japanese believe Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi’s achievements in foreign policy outweigh his domestic achievements. Professor Tanaka will explore the following questions: Has Koizumi made any innovations in Japanese foreign policy? What are the merits and shortcomings of his diplomacy? What are the prospects and challenges of his foreign policy for his next term as prime minister?
