Over
the last half-century, the U.S-Japan Security Alliance
has been the cornerstone of peace and stability in
the Asia-Pacific region. How has the U.S-Japan Security
Alliance developed in the face of the challenges
presented by an ever-changing international security
environment – the Cold War and its aftermath,
the Gulf War, and 9.11? Also, in what direction will
this Alliance head in the future? Can Japan become
a more equal partner to the U.S.? With eminent international
journalist Mr. Nishimura from the Asahi Shimbun as
moderator, Mr. Kanehara and Mr. Przystup will ponder
these questions and discuss the prospects for the
future.
