"Myopia: the Crux of the Japanese Problem "

8 October 2002

About This Seminar

Main Speaker

Dr. Yakushiji Taizo maintains that although various problems face Japan's economy, aspects of the Japanese economy remain vigorous. The overseas operations of Japanese companies reveal a healthy economic performance and certain companies have had impressive sales figures this year. The most problematic sector is not manufacturing but the service sector, such as banks and the retail industry. Dr. Yakushiji will discuss how reforming the service sector, equipping Japanese companies with the most technologically advanced equipment, and reforming Japan's higher educational system will create an internationally competitive workforce.
